I bought the TBC-260PF when the transmission head on my 25 year old Stihl SF-66 got a gear tooth chipped, my bad. The Stihl was bullet proof for all the years I had it, but it would bog down when put to heavy task. It also took about 6 pulls to get it started. I probably would have bought another Stihl, but price was really up there, and I had read some very good reviews on Tanaka Power equipment. I also got my Tanaka as a refurb for about $200 off the MSRP, so I bit. The new (Refurb) Tanaka starts on the first pull. This is rare for a 2 cycle engine in my experience, and is probably due to the Tanaka's porting, and the fact that it has a primer bub, which the Stihl did not have. The 260PF is really quiet for a trimmer so that is a nice feature and it has awsome power. It does not bog down it cuts through soft stuff with no problem and I cut down some rose bushes with standard .095 line with no problem at all. As you all know rose stems are tough.
