This is what you need for auto line feed issues
This is the replacement part you need for auto line feed issues such as line continuously coming out for the Grass Hog 1000 model. What happens is when you are repeatedly taking the cap off of this unit to restring your spool, the spring comes loose. The auto feed is entirely dependent on the pressure or tension of the spring. It is easy to lose the spring and not notice. It attaches to the cap. So when it comes loose and is not placed back in position, there is no tension. That results in continuous feed.
Up until now, there have been many customer complaints about this auto line feed issue with considerable confusion about what is causing the problem.
It took a considerable amount of time to discover what was happening for myself. And I see no real reason why the spring cannot be sold separately if the original spool assembly is otherwise intact.
As a result of my experience I will be looking for another weed eater as the auto line feed is too...

insufficient information
Product was as shown, but did not provide enough information. It is a double feed spool and cannot be used on some of Black and Decker's AFS Grass Hog Trimmers. It cost me $2.56 in return postage to find this out. I have a HBP18-OPE which is a single feed battery powered unit
Exactly what I needed
After looking through 8 different retail stores and trying to locate a black & decker dealer I finally found this item being sold through Amazon. If I had come here first I could have saved myself a great deal of time and wasted money in gas. Product was an exact match to what I needed.
