It does not wear out that often. However, you will want to have it on hand when the original one wears out. If your trimmer line is not spitting out well it could be you need to replace this assembly.

Works
Exact replacement. Works just like the original. Very pleased that I was able to fix the weedwacker my nephew ruined (he dragged this on the ground for an entire spool of line while he was using it- melted the head into on solid piece)
Works great.
Used it to replace the original OEM bump knob assembly. I would buy another if this one ever goes bad.
